Start a fundraiser

Being a charity, we rely on donations. Every day, we are hugely grateful for the many individuals, groups, and organisations who choose to support Northern Rescue through fundraising.

Your efforts make a real difference. They help fund our daily operations and ensure our pilots and critical care paramedics have the vital equipment they need to do their jobs safely and effectively.

Quite simply, fundraising helps keep our helicopters in the air and ready to respond 24/7 365 days a year.

Community fundraising in action

We are continually inspired by the creativity and dedication of our supporters. Here are just a few of the incredible events our community champions organise year after year:

MoreFM Northland’s BIG Breakie

For decades, the multi award-winning breakfast crew from MoreFM Northland has been a passionate supporter of Northern Rescue, hosting numerous fundraising broadcasts and initiatives across Te Tai Tokerau.

Through their dedication, they have brought communities together and raised well over $500,000 - helping to spread awareness about the critical importance of supporting lifesaving services. Their remarkable efforts include raising more than $120,000 in just 12 hours during a single all-day broadcast, a true testament to the power of community working together to make a real difference.

A Day on Waiheke - Man O’War Charity Lunch

Set against the stunning backdrop of Waiheke Island, the Man O’ War Charity Lunch is one of Northern Rescue’s flagship annual events - bringing together community, generosity, and a shared commitment to saving lives.

Since 2011, Man O’ War Vineyards has proudly hosted this occasion, where guests enjoy exceptional food, fine wine, and a warm, welcoming atmosphere - all in support of the Auckland Westpac Rescue Helicopter service. Each year, the event raises over $350,000, a powerful reflection of what can be achieved when a community comes together with purpose to make a real difference.

The Big Catch - Whangaroa Fishing Contest

A bunch of sea loving Far North residents teamed up a couple of years back to stage the Whangaroa Fishing Contest to raise funds for Northern Rescue Helicopter. Northlanders love getting out on the water and they know how critical safety is. What started as a simple idea has grown into a highly successful annual event.

The Whangaroa Fishing Contest brings together people who share a love of the ocean and a commitment to safety.  And if they thought the first year was a success, the 2025 contest blew that out of the water – reeling in $24,000. Now we can’t wait for the 2026 event.

Rodders Beach Festival

Held each February in Orewa, the Rodders Beach Festival is a lively celebration that brings together classic car enthusiasts, families, and supporters from across the North Island. While it’s a showcase of all things automotive, the festival also plays a vital role in supporting our lifesaving work - raising around $80,000 each year.

It’s a powerful reminder of what can be achieved when communities come together - not just for a fun day out, but to make a real and meaningful difference in the lives of the people who need us most.

Every fundraiser, big or small, helps ensure we can continue to be there for the communities who rely on us.

By supporting Northern Rescue, you are helping ensure our crews can continue to respond —delivering critical care, wherever and whenever it’s needed.

Your efforts make a real and lasting difference - helping save lives today, and for generations to come.
