Jacinta was just at the gym, her daily routine and doing kipping pull-ups, when she had her accident. “I was quite tired,” she says, “I kicked backwards and fell.” Jacinta, hit a workout bench behind, landing on her head. She feared she’d broken her neck. “When I heard the chopper, I was relieved and thankful,” Jacinta says, “I was in a lot of pain.” With the Kopu-Hikuai Road out, she dreaded a long road trip to hospital. Still recovering, Jacinta suffered ligament damage but, thankfully, didn’t break any bones. “The rescue helicopter is so vital to the Coromandel,” she says.
