Matt's Story - Te Mata

Thames resident Matt had an early knock-off at work and took his motorcycle up the Firth to clear his head. His second knock-off came when a car pulled out in front of him, leaving him in a serious condition. Matt’s workmate was a volunteer firefighter and first on scene – an unexpected but welcome second meet. Matt suffered multiple breaks in his arm and wrist which eventually would be corrected with steel plates. He remembers the calming football banter with the helicopter’s Pre-Hospital and Retrieval Medicine Doctor Kathryn and is grateful that the swift response meant his arm could be saved.
